Choosing good doors should be a well-thought-out decision. Buying doors is not cheap, especially when we have to furnish a whole house at once. Moreover, this interior finishing element will serve us for many years, we will open each door thousands, maybe millions of times. Therefore, the chosen product must meet three basic requirements: be durable, aesthetic, and functional. To carry out this project, it is worth choosing a reliable partner who has knowledge about both the doors available on the market and the technology of their installation.

1. Measurements

Before choosing or ordering doors, it is necessary to take correct measurements of the opening in the wall. In the case of adjustable door frames, it is worth considering the position of switches and sockets. Another important factor is the thickness of the wall and, for bathroom doors, the thickness of the layer of ceramic tiles along with the mortar. An optimal solution is to take measurements before laying the floors, as this will allow for any necessary adjustments to the dimensions of the openings and for the proper alignment of two types of flooring under the door leaf.

2. Mounting door frame

We start the door installation by placing the door frame in a previously prepared and cleaned opening. Using mounting wedges, we adjust the vertical and horizontal position of the frame, check the diagonals, and gaps between the wall.

3. Planning

We secure a properly positioned door frame with horizontal struts (minimum 3 pieces), and then fill the gap between the frame and the wall with low-expansion mounting foam. The professional mounting foam used by our teams ensures proper cushioning of the frame when closing the door.

4. Installing moldings

Once the foam is dry, we can proceed with installing the masking strips. Depending on the door manufacturer, the strips may be pre-cut to the door height or may need to be cut on site. The main purpose of masking strips, in addition to their aesthetic value, is to conceal the joint between the door frame and the wall, which is already painted and cannot be finished with plaster.

5. Suspension and adjustment of the wing

The next step is to remove the wedges and hang the door on the hinges. An important element is the proper adjustment of gaps between the door and the frame (especially in the case of non-rebated doors) and the optimal positioning of the lock striker plate.

6. Mounting fittings

The final step is installing the door hardware. Handles and rosettes should be mounted using the screws and bolts provided in the set by the manufacturer. Professional installation of the hardware ensures the correct operation of the locks, thus allowing for years of use without the need for servicing.
